Universal Phone Charger

ITU Aproves Universal Phone Charger

Finally the days where we had to buy a new phone charger every time we misplaced our or every time we buy a new phone  is over. No longer will the phone companies be able to drain so much money from its’ consumers for pure profit.

On October 22, the International Telecommunication Union, a division of the United Nations, gave their stamp of approval to the Universal Charging Solution. The UCS will be the international standard for mobile phone charging using Micro USB as the interface  for every phone regardless of manufacturer, model or maker. Meaning you will be able to charge any phone anywhere in the world, but the solution is not only to make life easier to the consumer, based in input from GSMA the new solution will decrease standby energy consumption by 50%, reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by 13.6 to 21.8 million tons a year and dispose of 51,000 excessive chargers.  We should start seeing changes as early as January of 2010 in order to set the deadline set by GSMA of having every major headset in the world using Micro USB.

Only now that climate changes are so obviously dangerous worldwide did the govern decide to step in and so clearly cut down on waste, a simple idea that should have been implemented a long time ago.
